LBW2013 status day 02

Sunday

Overnight, the weather did howl and gale, and my tent was all-a-shudder. The tent pegs held fast, greatly aided by an almighty Jason super-peg anchored on the upwind corner. Despite being sheltered on three sides by a drystone wall, big barn, and a car, the dome tent was not always able to stay dome shaped. Still, just like a sturdy ship on the sea, it always righted itself.

In other words: Dome tents are not the best of shape for high winds…

Come the morning, all was rather damp outside but greatly calmed down and nicely bright. I enjoyed a lazy start and some reading as fluffy clouds rolled by. Strangely (or not), the campsite had far fewer tents/campers than were there the previous day. Although, a little more effort is needed yet before the Glastonbury muddy field effect is made at the site entrance.

And then a very sleek and fast riderless black horse galloped past and around towards a closed gate… Crashing through? Or jump? Or… OK, it had the sense to stop…

Route #2 was explored down to Castleton via the Peak Cavern side of Peveril Castle. There are various lines of shakeholes marking the path of various caves underfoot. Beware the muddy puddle that might be far deeper than first seen…

Meanwhile, the LBW Hut was in full swing and had been festooned with yet more tech including solar devices.

I had a very brief pause in “The Pub of The Day” The Bulls Head with the advance pub party before then heading up into the hills to witness strange glowing lights…
