Beeston Post-Perigee Last Post Blue Moon Beers

Folks,

It’s been a long time since the last blue moon beers (that why they’re blue moon events?). So to celebrate the recent perigee ‘Super Full Moon’ and this month’s (LXF144) Linux Format page 14 spread for our group, we’re on for a few evening beers and a regathering of the Beeston contingent and those farther afield at:

    That was a good do with good beer and a good surprise visit by a well travelled face not often seen 🙂

    Of the various varied parallel discussions I can remember, we covered various of beers, DNA, academia, open source scientific software, user interfaces, web browsers, IE6 perpetuated lock-in, Ubuntu, the Unity desktop, foreign fonts and how fonts are optimised to look good mainly for printing on paper rather than for on-screen viewing, hotels, programming languages and parallel vs sequential for execution in parallel hardware, declarative vs functional programming languages (and is functional better for parallelism?), and lots more…

    No hang-over either!

    And we even mentioned the moon 🙂
