Both the Roebuck and Laguna were on good form. The Roebuck had a good selection of ales lined up, and some comfy seats free in which to enjoy them. Hence, we wandered over to the Laguna a ‘little later’. I certainly enjoyed the vegi Indian – just the right level of spices to taste with no danger of blowing your head off. Despite the cold damp night and the diversion of football on TV, Laguna was full.

Good to see (pre-Dr) GPS Dave after quite a while. Looks like I’ll need to lift a PPS pin on a GPS chip to get anything useful for use as a source-0 input to NTP. I think I’ll likely leave it to the net time sources and NTPD… Unless…

There was much discussion about the pain and nightmare of software licensing, especially when the licensing adds all manner of restrictions of how you can use the software and on what it can be run. I’m sure customers buying hardware would tell the suppliers where to get off if similarly obtuse usage restrictions were imposed… Also for the problems for centrally managing numbers of users, especially when the software licensing conditions impose much expensive silliness…

We were rather too easily persuaded for a last beer in The Bell Inn for their open mike session. Thence, a quick dash to catch the last bus back home.

    All good fun.

    Cheers,
    Martin
