After some tweaking and meandering, this is where we put in place the “www” for the new website for NLUG!

I’ve tried to incorporate the various comments I’ve received. On the night, we’ll make the new site ‘live’ and I’ll be demonstrating some of the WordPress features used. I hope also to be presenting a summary of the efforts made by some of the other website contributors. Thence, lets add some content and fun!
All followed by the usual general discussions on the world and the universe 😉

Well, the original talk suffered a bit of a hiccup when we found that the Navigation WiFi wasn’t working! 🙁 Some debug later, and the proprietors kindly letting us check their wiring, and connections, and… We found that it’s not going to be something quickly fixable 🙁 🙁 And very unusually, I was on larger for the night!
And then… True geekiness and Android wizardry came to the rescue as one of the group set up an impromptu 3G -> WiFi hotspot for the night. With the newly made internet connectivity, we then went through some live website comparisons and tweakings. I demonstrated some of the WordPress Atahualpa Theme features, whilst other website examples were also tweaked live. There were various discussions about contrast and readability and browser compatibility.
I also sneaked a brief visit over to the nearby NottingHack people for the start of their Wednesday meet. They’ve got themselves a good setup over there even if rather ‘student style’. Imagine something that is a cross of the set for the old TV show ‘The Young Ones’ and the grandeur of Sebastian’s apartment building in ‘Blade Runner’… 😮
Hopefully, we now have a website that is nicely compatible with everything from smartphones and netbooks all the way up to multi-screen desktop behemoths 🙂
Comments and suggestions always welcomed. Even to try other WordPress themes.
