A New Year’s Linux
12/01/2011 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
What new goodies can we hope for in the New Year? What is Linux in the first place?…
For those new and not so new to Linux, this talk is aimed to give a whistle-stop tour of a little of the history and main characters that have crafted Linux into what (an ever increasing proportion of) the world uses today. Also, a brief overview of the structure of Linux will be given so as to give an idea of what it is that your computer actually does when you run ‘Linux’.
All in time for beers and discussions later! 🙂
Updated for venue:
We are at the new venue, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem in the ground floor snug. Ask at the bar or look for penguins and {lap, net}books! Good food and good beer also.
Wishing you all a good Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Cheers,
Martin
(Note that just for January, to allow for sore heads and hang-overs, the talk is on the second Wednesday for January.)

Hello. I won’t be around for this, which is as shame as it reads like it should be good, but I just wanted to say “Hi!” and basically give advance warning that there is a neophyte with a dangerous level of knowledge moving to the area (i.e. I can break things good and proper, fixing them is another matter…..)
Folks, we’re in the Olde Trip just around the corner from the old Navvie. Should be good and much better all round 🙂
All welcome! (Neophytes ‘n all levels ‘n all 😉 )
See ya there,
Cheers,
Martin
